Obfuscation Lab / Experiment 09

Combined dynamic obfuscation

JavaScript builds and repeatedly shuffles a price, hides extra digits, and generates the currency symbol with a nested CSS pseudo-element. Extraction requires both timing and rendering information.

Live extraction results

While the price is loading, the DOM may be empty or incomplete. Even after it's complete, the source text won't match what the browser displays.

What's happening?

JavaScript waits, then creates price fragments one at a time in randomized DOM order. Flexbox restores their visual order, two extra digits are hidden, and a nested pseudo-element generates the dollar sign. Automatic rebuilding continues every five seconds.

Important: The price element exposes no ready flag. A scraper must decide when to extract the rendered value and verify that it's complete.

Accessibility warning: This intentionally hostile markup is unsuitable for actual storefronts. Visual order may differ from assistive technology reading order.
